Our client, a well established company in Sub-Saharan Africa and official distributor and reseller of Apple products, is seeking to hire an Accountant to join their team in Nicosia. The successful candidate will have full ownership of accounts payable processing for a multitude of companies based in Cyprus executing payments, reconciliations and correspondence for UK, Nigeria, Namibia, Botswana and Zambia, while also being involved in management of key GL accounts such as VAT, accruals, prepayments, fixed assets, other receivables and inter company charges.

Position’s duties and responsibilities

• Preparing, reconciling and processing weekly creditors
• Processing of monthly journals as part of the management account close process for various balance sheet accounts
• Preparing and reconciling various balance sheet recons, control procedures and identifying, escalating and resolving any risks
• Performing the more technical and challenging reconciliations and analysis where required
• Monitoring, escalating and resolving Sub Ledger and General Ledger differences
• Reviewing and submitting VAT reconciliations
• Supporting preparations if reporting presentations
• Supporting ad hoc projects where required
• Being the key person in IFRS compliance and statutory audit across multiple jurisdictions the Cypriot entity has subsidiaries in

Position’s requirements

• Aqcuiring a Degree in Accounting or Finance or any relevant field
• 2 years of experience in a similar role
• 2 or more years working in the finance industry, specifically TB processing
• expense, payments and balance sheet analysis. (Experience in an inventory environment will be considered as advantage)
