Buyer/Merchandiser, Nicosia – BUY/02/24

Our client, a well-established Group in the Retail Industry, seeks to recruit a high calibre  individual for the position of Buyer/Merchandiser. The successful candidate will report to the Buying and Merchandising Manager and will be responsible for the accurate procurement and management of stock within the areas of responsibility in order to maximize sales and profitability.

Position’s Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of the buying strategy and departmental/range budgets for each season through product knowledge and analysis of sales history
  • Work with the selection of merchandise and place orders to meet seasonal budgets provided
  • Review sales budgets weekly throughout the season, recommending and taking appropriate action
  • Calculate cost of reduction
  • Effectively manage stock in order to maximize sales opportunities and profit
  • Monitor order fulfillment and replace any amendments or cancellation to orders
  • Ensure all stock bought is delivered timely and correctly to our distribution center
  • Create store catalogues in line with the customer store profile and space requirements
  • Monitor stock levels by store and take necessary actions to fulfill the spaces
  • Ensure maximum profitability through managing the end of season reduction period
  • Assist in setting of clear price structures to meet pre-agreed margins at prices appropriate to the market
  • Assist in identifying opportunities for value promotions and implement as appropriate through the knowledge of the local market and current stock positions
  • Assist in the preparation of seasonal marketing plans and ensure adequate stock coverage in stores to support all promotions through knowledge of the  merchandise and the local market
  • Conduct a regular comparative shopping within the local market
  • Agree targets for the frequency and objectives of store visits and engage into regular communication with store teams
  • Make recommendations for the development of systems and processes that will benefit the whole team
  • Assist in the delivery of product knowledge training
  • Ensure that all legal requirements of food retailing or other product are met.

Position’s Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Fashion Buying & Merchandising, Business Administration, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Analysis etc)
  • Minimum 1 year of work experience in a retail purchasing department, preferably fashion related.
  • Strong numerical and excellent analytical skills
  • Very good knowledge of Excel and ability to handle large arrays of figures using Excel 2010
  • Enthusiasm and positive energy
  • Strong communication skills
  • Excellent command of the Greek and English languages
  • Customer focused and team oriented.
  • Commercial awareness and ability to plan, organize and solve problems
