Senior Financial Accountant, Nicosia – SFA/03/24

On behalf of our client, an Investment Firm, we are currently looking to recruit a Senior Financial Accountant for their team in Nicosia. The Senior Financial Accountant will assist the Head of Finance in overseeing the financial management of the Group and family office companies in Cyprus, including accounting practices, budgeting, financial planning, and analysis. This role requires a meticulous approach to managing financial operations and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.

Position’s Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of all financial reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for internal and external use. Implement procedures to improve the financial reporting process and ensure compliance with accounting standards and principles.
  • Develop and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard assets. Assess risks and implement risk management strategies.
  • Prepare monthly cash flow statements and ensure the availability of funds as needed.
  • Coordinate with external tax advisors to ensure compliance with all tax laws and regulations.
  • Coordinate and facilitate the annual audit process by working closely with external auditors. Prepare necessary financial documents, ensure adherence to audit timelines, and implement recommendations for financial controls and process improvements based on audit findings.
  • Assist the Head of Finance on negotiating terms and conditions for professional services, and oversee contracts and agreements to ensure they meet the group office’s needs.
  • Assist the Head of the Finance on the budgeting process, including the development of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
  • Provide other operational support to the Finance team.

Position’s Requirements

  • Full Accountancy Qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
  • A minimum of 2-3 years post-qualified experience.
  • Excellent written and spoken knowledge of the Greek and English languages.
  • Experience with Sage 500, SAP B1, CaseWare is desirable, and would be an advantage.
  • Strong financial reporting experience and in-depth knowledge of financial statements / IFRS.
  • Confident working effectively within a complex corporate structure.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Extremely detail oriented.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with particular emphasis on Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
