Head of Compliance & Money Laundering Reporting Officer, Nicosia – HOC/04/24

Our client is authorised as an Alternative Investment Fund Manager and regulated by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission and is currently looking for a Head of Compliance & Money Laundering Reporting Officer to join their team in Nicosia.

Our client brings together experience across investment disciplines, from real estate to special situations and credit strategies, to deliver best-in-class, risk-adjusted returns for our investors. The company seeks investment opportunities in markets that have suffered an economic or banking crisis, resulting in a dislocation in asset pricing.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible in managing the compliance function, anti-money laundering risk assessment frameworks, ensuring adherence to AIFMD and other relevant legal and regulatory guidelines.

Joining a team of professionals based in Greece and Cyprus, the individual will be expected to build strong working relationships across the business.

Position’s Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and rigorously monitor compliance policies and procedures.
  • Function as the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO), managing all AML-related matters.
  • Conduct investor risk scoring and KYC processes.
  • Engage with various external entities including banks, administrators, depositaries, legal advisors, internal auditors, and compliance advisors.
  • Interact with investors for communications and due diligence processes.
  • Collaborate with different departments within the organization such as the deal team, finance, legal, and investor relations.
  • Assist in transaction execution from a compliance/KYC standpoint, providing essential support to the company.
  • Review and assistance in preparing board meeting minutes for the AIFM and its funds.
  • Review fund documentation for new fund setups and provide assistance to the Executive Directors on related matters.
  • Utilize legal qualifications to support business operations beyond compliance duties.
  • Ensure compliance of new investments with regulatory standards.
  • Maintain and update compliance documentation and reports for regulatory bodies.
  • Conduct compliance training and offer guidance to staff members.
  • Stay updated on regulatory changes and provide strategic advice to management.

Position’s Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Law or any other related field
  • 10+ years of relevant working experience
  • Fluent in English and Greek
  • Proven experience with Alternative Investment Funds / AIFMD is required
  • CySEC AML Certification will be considered as an advantage
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office applications
  • Advanced communication and analytical skills
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced high-pressured environment
  • Organisation skills and ability to work independently
  • Motivated and hard working with a high level of focus on work quality and attention to detail
